Lucian Byrnes came to the church on Christmas night for leverage, not temptation. Scarlett Hayes was supposed to be a symbol, a saint, and the mayor’s political pawn—but one look at the girl praying inside that sanctuary threatened every ounce of control he had left.
God forgive me for what I’m about to do to the girl praying inside that church.
~Lucian Byrnes, Eyes of the Unholy
About this Lucian Byrnes quote
This Lucian Byrnes quote comes from Eyes of the Unholy by Evie James, the second book in the Sin Syndicate series. Lucian is a ruthless Irish syndicate mafia enforcer sent to abduct Scarlett Hayes, the mayor’s daughter, from a church on Christmas night—but what begins as a calculated move for leverage becomes the first fracture in his control. Their story blends enemies to lovers tension, forced proximity, vigilante justice, dangerous protection, religious imagery, and a morally gray antihero who would burn the world for the woman he was never supposed to want.
